| It’s a little known fact that there is an active group of model helicopter pilots that frequent the club field. In fact, the field in Cain Ridge has been the site of one of the longest running and well attended helicopter contests in the country drawing contestants from all over the US and Canada with talent including national and world championship pilots. |
| | There is a dedicated area at the flying field in which pilots that are either learning to hover or are practicing hovering maneuvers can fly. This area is set back from the “active” runway thus protecting us from possible interacting aircraft. | | | | | | There are also several pilot stations on the main runway for pilots who want to be in the “forward flight” mode. Plenty of room for aerobatics and there is even several marked layouts if you want to practice contest maneuvers. As a courtesy to all, we respectfully ask that hovering (airplanes as well as helicopters) minimized while fixed wing aircraft are using the runway (unless you have worked out something with the other pilots before hand). | | | | | | There are a number of competent flyers that can be of help to you.
